NCIC grills Ruto’s ally Oscar Sudi over hate speech
– Oscar Sudi was grilled over utterances he made on March 30, 2019 in Uasin Gishu county
– According to the NCIC, the utterances were considered to be hate speech
– This comes barely days after singer Suzzanne Awiyo demanded for his arrest
– The ODM party secretary general had also called for arrest of the MP and prosecutions over threats allegedly he made
Officials from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on Thursday, April 11, grilled Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi over utterances he made believed to be hate speech.
The commission argued the Jubilee party member made the remarks while in Cheptiret, Uasin Gishu county in March 30, 2019.
According to a statement by NCIC, Sudi appeared at Kilimani Sub-county criminal investigations office at 10am.
“Kapseret MP, Oscar Sudi summoned by NCIC’s Investigation Officers. He is appearing at Kilimani Sub-county Criminal Investigations Officer’s office at 10am, Thursday, April 11. This is following the hateful utterances he made on March 30, 2019 at Cheptiret, Uasin Gishu county,” the integration commission said.
The Jubilee party member and a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto was thereafter issued with a warning over the same.
“Oscar Sudi issued with a Notice of Cessation ordering him to stop making utterances likely to interfere with peaceful coexistence and harmonious relations among the different ethnic communities. Failure to comply, he commits an offence under Section 63 (C) of the NCI Act,” noted NCIC
Sudi has in the recent past been making headlines with his scathing attacks on the Opposition led by Raila Odinga.
He has also publicly attacked President Uhuru Kenyatta and agencies carrying out corruption related investigations while accusing them of waging a political war against the DP.
Popular singer and artist Suzzane Owiyo earlier castigated the MP for his utterances which she said were dangerous to the stability of the nation.
She further asked media houses to give the politician a total blackout to deter him from spewing more venom to the public.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna also called for the MP’s arrest and prosecution after he threatened those frustrating Ruto of dire consequences.
