Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has encouraged his Manchester United players to fight among themselves – because it shows they are winners.
“If the session ends with a little bit of a quarrel I don’t mind that, because it means they’re winners, they want to improve.“If you settle for losing in training, you’ll lose when a game when it really matters.
“It’s a long, hard season. You’ve got to deal with the wins, defeats, setbacks and players not playing.“They all want to play, but they all want the best for their mates and everyone understands it’s a team game.Asked how beneficial the time away with his squad has been, Solskjaer said:”It’s important.
“There are a couple of aspects – it’s the weather and the downtime the boys can have together.“They’re not just running away back home to their kids and wives. We’ve got plenty of time for video analysis to get some principles in play.“You have more meetings and longer time on the training ground. We sit down and go through things.”United’s record £89million signing Paul Pogba, who joined up with the squad in Dubai yesterday, is winning his battle to be fit for Sunday’s showdown with Tottenham.Pogba, United’s in-form player with four goals and three assists in his lsat three games, missed United’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Reading last Saturday through injury.
The France World Cup winner stayed behind in Manchester to undergo further treatment, while the squad flew to Dubai on Saturday, but trained yesterday and is set to face Spurs at Wembley.Solskjaer said: “Hopefully, we can get Paul on his feet during this week. Paul had his knock and has had a few days of treatment back home.”
