Luis Enrique makes staggering salary demands amid Arsenal interest

Former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has reportedly made staggering wage demands in order to succeed Arsene Wenger as the next Arsenal manager.

Earlier last month, reports suggested that the 47-year-old is the early favourite to become the next Gunners boss but the club now seem to have reached a major stumbling block towards a deal.

According to The Mirror, Enrique is seeking a gross package of around £25m a year with the promise of an additional £200m kitty to spend on new recruits.

However, this is something the Gunners’ hierarchy are unwilling to match and they have hence decided to look elsewhere for a suitable replacement for Wenger.

Wenger’s currently commands a salary of £8m a year and the board are supposedly seeking a manager whom they can pay less that the French tactician.

Hoffenheim’s Julian Nagelsmann and former Gunner Mikel Arteta have been identified as possible managerial targets alongside Liverpool assistant Zeljko Buvacimages (23).jpg .
