Alexis Sanchez breaks Twitter silence ahead of completing Manchester United transfer

Alexis Sanchez has broken his Twitter silence – complaining he is tired of ‘fake news’ after allegations about his private life were made in a tabloid newspaper.

The Arsenal superstar underwent a medical at United’s training ground at Carrington on Sunday ahead of completing his long-awaited swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan .

Photos of Sanchez wearing full United kit have already been leaked , but both clubs have to submit work permit applications to finally conclude the exchange.

While some outlets have chosen to focus on certain aspects of the deal, including Sanchez’s prospective wages, others have written pieces about the 29-year-old’s life off the field and his relationship with girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez.

And, responding to one article written on Sunday, Sanchez took to Twitter with his first social media post since January 2.

The short statement read: “Yesterday came out a fake story in The Sun about my personal life, and it has been said time ago that I had a son. That is false, too. I’m tired of denying fake news. Thanks and I ask you please to respect my private life.”

Jose Mourinho revealed he wanted to sign Sanchez because he felt his squad lacked depth up front.

“In this moment there is no competition for places,” he said after the win at Burnley on Saturday.

“In this moment we have four attacking players for three positions, three are starting, one is on the bench, Zlatan for the whole season was not available, we look to central defenders, played Jones and Smalling, Rojo on the bench, Victor [Lindelof] in the stands, [Eric[ Bailly is injured, look to midfield, Fellaini, Herrera and McTominay on the bench, Carrick in the stands.

“And we look to the attacking areas and we need that extra competitive internal competition but more solutions for us, so let’s see.”
